Sara Sakowitz is a current student at Columbia University in New York City. She has been hoping to pursue a future in cancer biology after entering her first cancer research lab when she was 16. She is the Founder and CEO of Blue Moon Box, a science education company. At Columbia, she is the President of the Columbia Organization of Rising Entrepreneurs, one of the university's largest undergraduate student societies.
Most recently, Sara was named to Crains NY Business' 20 Under 20. She was also named to the NYC Economic Development Corporation's 10 Under 20. She won Columbia University's Venture Competition #StartupColumbia Challenge. Sara was featured on Good Morning America with Blue Moon Box. She was profiled in a Huffington Post article, "This Budding Scientist-Entrepreneur Puts The Girls-In-STEM Problem in New Perspective."
She was a 2014 National Finalist in the Intel Science Talent Search, won the First Prize Grand Award in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, and won the National Made with Code Prize from Google and Ellen Degeneres.
